My Neopets Shrine

Maybe I'm just bias, but I think Neopets is the best ever virtual pet adoption website. It has it's own unique charm and jankiness, but back in the very early 2000's when I started playing Neopets, it seemed so advanced. I wasn't a serious player until 2007, and now I have amassed a collection of really cool stuff. The first thing I collected on there was stamps, on my earliest account I made and remember the login to, which was in 2004. Back then, Jazz_Invincible was around (not me, despite the name) and he was the top avatar collector.

I saw Jazz_Invincible on the Neoboards a few times and thought that he was the coolest person on Neopets. Back then, whenever he posted on the AC, people freaked out as if a celebrity were talking to them, and spammed the boards like crazy. I guess kid me wanted to be popular online too, so maybe that's why I started collecting avatars. Or maybe it was the sense of accomplishment I got from doing it, or because the graphics are simply quite cute.

My biggest accomplishment of all though is my gallery Pretty Pixels. It has well over 1,000 items in it, which are sorted by their colour. It's a collection of items that I think are beautiful, and I wanted to showcase. Here's some screenshots: (add screenshots)

One day around 2016, I got really lucky spinning one of the wheels, and won a book item worth 50 million Neopoints. This kick started me into becoming rich AF on Neopets, and enabled me to make the gallery I have now. These days, becoming rich is easy with the dailies on offer, food club, and daily quests. It wasn't easy when I was a kid though, and even saving up 1,000 Neopoints took a long time. We had dial-up internet, where everything loaded slowly and it could disconnect any time. The only way to earn Neopoints back then for me, was to play games. They were fun, but man I sucked.

Somehow, I ended up being patient enough and saving up enough to earn myself a Mutant Usul Morphing Potion, which was the cheapest one at the time, somewhere around 140,000 Neopoints. Finally, I had a painted Neopet and I felt like I made it! I remember what it was like, browsing the pound in hopes that I could find a painted pet, ANY painted pet, even if the username was total nonsense full of numbers. These days, I like to create or adopt a pet, give it a petpet, then zap both of them, and adopt them out. :)
